D2T2 Printers Dye Sublimation Technology
Dye diffusion printing, often called dye sublimation printing or D2T2, is a fast, low cost method of generating full tone photographic quality images.
HOW IT WORKS
The system applies heat selectively to a 'sandwich' of dye ribbon and an uncoloured receiver, sometimes called print paper. The heat is applied by a thermal print head which presses the 'sandwich' together which causes the dye to diffuse into the receiver, creating an image. A full colour print of up to 16.7 million colours is created by successively printing yellow, magenta and cyan images (YMC) in registration on the same receiver plus a transparent, protective overlay panel.
ADVANTAGES OF DYE DIFFUSION PRINTING
• Fast print speed technology - less than 7 seconds per 6"x4" print*
• Economical production up to 790 prints from a single roll of ribbon and receiver**
• Full tone photographic quality images - borderless prints and cut to size***
• Instant dry prints with finger print and water resistant technology - allows for immediate handling
* OP1000 in Standard Mode,
** OP1000 5" x 3.5" Print Size
*** Cut to size is set by the media format.
